Fed's stimulus exit appears blocked by eurozone debt crisis

Federal Reserve officials indicated that the U.S. central bank abandoned the idea of an interest-rate increase this year because of the eurozone's debt crisis. Most of the big banks that deal directly with the Fed doubt interest rates will rise before 2011. Charles Evans, head of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, said Europe's debt problems emphasize the importance of keeping interest rates at a historic low.
