Investors shift to covered bonds

Demand for covered bonds is increasing as investors seek securities backed by top-rated loans amid the European sovereign-debt crisis. About $5.7 billion in covered bonds have been or are about to be sold this week worldwide, a significant increase from last week's total, according to Bloomberg data.
