Return of risk appetite shows confidence in U.S. economy

Investors have bought nearly $100 billion in high-yield bonds this year, according to data compiled by Standard & Poor's and Bloomberg. The figure indicates investors are increasingly confident that the U.S. economy is on the road to recovery, economists said. The rally in high-yield bonds demonstrates "a sense that the worst is over for the U.S. economy and that a self-sustaining recovery could materialize by the summer," said John Lonski, chief economist at Moody's Capital Markets Group.
