Brand Update for Banner & William Penn Life

Beginning October 4, 2011, Banner Life and William Penn Life of NY will be marketed under a single national brand, Legal & General America.  Their parent company, Legal and General Group, Plc has been in business for 175 years.  It’s the 9th largest insurance company in the world according to a 2011 AM Best report based on 2009 admitted assets.  By aligning with the Legal & General brand, they hope to take advantage of its world-famous name.  The ownership has not changed, nor has the basic corporate structure – but marketing under a single name brings all of their companies under one umbrella.

With three logos and three company names, the relationships between the corporate entities were not well understood and brand awareness was stagnant.  As Banner and William Penn Life work toward incorporating their new brand identity into everything they do, you will see them identify themselves as Legal & General America.  However, the insurance company names and span remain unchanged.  In New York, they will write all new policies with William Penn of NY.  In all other states, new business goes to Banner Life.  All in-force business stays exactly where it is.
